Tamworth and District Music Festival Child Protection Policy

Back

1 : Purpose and Function of Organisation

Tamworth and District Music Festival provides music making opportunities for musicians of all ages. It gives a platform for amateur performers and the opportunity to hear expert comments from professional adjudicators on their performance.

2 : The Festival Environment

Our Festival is held at Queen Elizabeth's Mercian School , Rawlett School and Flaxhill Junior School .

We seek to provide a caring environment with the highest possible protection for Children and Vulnerable Adults.

We aim to achieve this through a partnership between the Committee, Parents, Performers, Teachers and Volunteers.

3 : To Whom Does This Policy Apply

This policy relates to Children under the age of 18 and those Vulnerable Adults of any age who are identified to our Committee prior to arrival at our Festival. The Festival actively seeks to meet any special needs notified to the Festival by Parents, Guardians, Carers and/or Teachers.

4 : Festival Personnel

Our Festival is run wholly by Volunteers. We recruit Volunteers who are known to the Committee and ensure that they know and subscribe to our Child Protection Policy and how we aim to achieve our safe and caring environment.

The Committee is identified by name badges that inform everyone of their name and position of responsibility.

Volunteers are identified by name badges along with the title ‘Steward’. They will be able to direct Children to a Committee member to discuss and document any problems that may arise. There will be a Committee member available at all times.

5 : Preparation For Attendance At Festival

Whilst the Festival Committee will make every effort to ensure Children’s safety they cannot undertake responsibility for unaccompanied minors. Parents and Guardians are encouraged to attend the Festival and support their Children.

6 : Performance Areas And Changing Areas

Please be aware that public areas of our Festival are not manned. Please note our Festival does not provide changing facilities.

7 : Photographs, Videotapes and Press Photography

Our Festival is bound by copyright law and cannot allow flash photography, tape or video recordings, all of which are absolutely forbidden during performances or adjudication.

8: Legislation supports this policy and the organisers will constantly review it, improving and enhancing the Policy as necessary. In doing this they will look to the British and International Federation of Festivals for support and that body in turn will look to other agencies for good practice, most notably the NSPCC and Arts Council of England policy guidelines.
